What is team coaching?

According to ICF (International Coaching Federation) team coaching is partnering in a co-creative and reflective process with a team on its dynamics and relationships in a way that inspires them to maximize their abilities and potential in order to reach their common purpose and shared goals. Team coaching is critical to harness teams’ collective expertise, energy and experience to accelerate performance and improve results.
Today teams are forming at a very high pace and there is obviously the need for them to perform as fast as possible and at higher levels. They need to be more agile, resilient, performing in a very volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous environment (VUCA world). They are now also in many aspects more diverse. In this complex workplace more and more organizations recognize the potential of teams. In teams working effectively together, everyone can accomplish what they could not on their own.

I have worked with teams on all of those challenges, as their team coach, enabling them to find the right solutions for them, to have the much needed conversations in the team, to align on their direction and priorities, work on the psychological safety, inclusion, make effective decisions, and overall build their capacity to work together effectively, utilize the strengths in the team, overcome the obstacles and become more resilient to deal with challenges ahead.

What to expect from a team coaching process?

Team coaching process usually lasts from a couple of months to a year, with app. 3 - 5 team coaching sessions, but this depends on the specific case. You work on your challenges and opportunities as a team, learning along the way best ways to collaborate. The process is highly tailor made to the specific needs of the team. As a coach my role is not to give you solutions or lectures, but to enable you to come to solutions as a team, to build on your collaboration capabilities, use the strengths you have as a team and come to the desired outcomes.
The team coaching sessions are usually in duration of 4 to 7 hours and are done in person or via Zoom or MS Teams.
